I also want to point out that my message, the message of Hope and Prosperity for Deltona's future is shared by many in Deltona. Party lines, ethnicity, etc. becomes less relevant when new leadership with a true vision for the future is introduced into the political process. That's what I want to thank you for - for listening to my message and joining me in making a difference for the future of Deltona!

About the Puerto Rican Association of Volusia:

On a very local level, this endorsement is the result of me sharing my detailed vision on specifically what I will do as Mayor for the City of Deltona. I know that Deltona, under my leadership as Mayor, has a brighter and more prosperous future ahead. My message is a message of hope, prosperity and opportunity for our community.

In my opinion, the other two candidates who have previously served Deltona in the past at the same time as mayor and city commissioner have had their chance and failed! Take a look back over the last 15 years! There has been prosperity in all of our neighboring cities - everywhere - but Deltona. Look at Lake Mary, Heathrow, Orange City, Port Orange, Deland, Daytona Beach, etc. and then look at us! They have all seen economic prosperity - why hasn't Deltona?

Where was our prosperity during the best economic times this city has ever seen?! We still have crumbling roads! That's part of the legacy left behind by our two prior leaders!

The people of Deltona are looking for their next mayor to lead them in promoting economic growth, rebuilding City Spirit, bringing private sector jobs to Deltona, taking care of basic government services and I AM THE MAN FOR THIS JOB!

I look forward to being the next Mayor for the City of Deltona!

Sunday 7/25/2010 - Today, there was a community Hob Nob sponsored by the Deltona Citizens Action Committee (DCAC).  The event was held at the Deltona Library.  What a great event!  I personally want to thank Nancy Schleicher of the DCAC for organizing this event.

Early estimates are that hundreds of Deltonans attended this event.  I know that I was busy talking for two straight hours!  I want to thank all of those that took the time to come talk to me.  I also appreciate your kind words of encouragement and support - taking yard signs - and most importantly telling me you are entrusting me with your VOTE!

Candidates’ Forum at 7PM on Tuesday - July 20, 2010

Update:  Saturday - 7/25/2010

THE OUTCOME - VICTORY!  I had 3 goals in mind when I attended this forum.

1.  To share my vision of hope and prosperity for the future of Deltona.

2.  To provide specific details on how I am going to accomplish my vision of hope and prosperity for the future of Deltona.

3.  To clearly show there are contrasting differences between me and the other candidates.  My leadership will provide a path to success, while the records of my opponents clearly show there was very little to no substantial improvement in bringing in private sector businesses or private sector jobs in the City of Deltona for the 10 years they were in office.

There was an audio recording of the Forum, and when it becomes available, I will post the link here for all to hear!

THE VENUE - The Forum itself was loosly organized and held in a room in a restauraunt that was very small and unable to seat all the people in attendance.  There was an overflow of people that had to stand by the bar and stand for two hours!  At 4:00 PM - 3 hours before the forum was to start, the rules of attendance changed!  The forum went from a "public event" to a "private event" (by invitation only) and some people who showed up were told by Herb Zischkau, City of Deltona City Commisioner - District 2, Moderator of the Forum and Mayoral Candidate David Santiago's staunch supporter that they had to leave or the police would be called and they would be arrested!  Outrageous!  One of those people was the State Committee Man for the Republican Executive Committee of Volusia County!

• The responsibilities of the moderator is to "introduce the candidates, manage the timer and recognize audience members for questions to candidates". 
• The moderator of this event is Herb Zischkau.
• Herb is currently a member of the City of Deltona's City Council - District 2.
• Herb is a staunch supporter of David Santiago - Candidate for Mayor.
• The reason I am bringing these facts to light is to educate all the people that will be attending this event about the relationships between the moderator and David Santiago.
• In addition, I want to insure a fair and level playing field.  In other words, I expect to be treated by Herb the same way Herb treats David Santiago - NO FAVORITISM HERB!!!  (I have no reason to suspect Herb will not be fair - I am sure he will be!)
• John Masiarzyck will NOT be attending or participating in this forum.  He has a scheduling conflict!

I wil be conducting a Town Hall sytle meeting where I will be making a 30 minute presentation on why I should be Mayor of Deltona.  In addition, I will share with you my positive vision for the future of Deltona and where I will lead the city when I am elected.

Frankly, my two opponents have previously served Deltona (at the same time) in the past - one as former Mayor and the other as former City Commissioner.  In my opinion, they didn’t get the job done when they had the chance! 

Example:  Look at our crumbling roads!  While our sister cities (Heathrow, Lake Mary, Orange City, Port Orange and others) have seen prosperity Deltona has missed out under their prior leadership.  I have a proven plan to change that!

I represent a new generation of leadership!  I am not politically beholden to any particular person or group providing me with the freedom to make decisions based on facts and sound managerial principles.  Deltona is a major I-4 corridor city and we, as a City, need to leverage that fact for the City of Deltona’s prosperity!

• Create NEW private sector Businesses & Industry in Deltona.
• Bring in NEW long term sustainable high earning jobs to Deltona.
• Reduce Unnecessary City Government Spending.
• Maximize Law Enforcement Presence.
• I will fight to allow our Fire Dept to transport Victims & Patients to the hospital.
• Lower Property Taxes.  This will happen based on #1, #2 and #3.
• Fix our crumbling roads!
• Fight Youth Crimes and Gang Activity

Why are we considered the little guys?

         Because we pay the taxes.

·        Because we don’t have our hand out looking for money or free benefits from the city.

·        Because we work hard every day trying to meet the needs of our families and usually don’t have time to get involved in the City of Deltona politics as much as we would like to.

·        Because we pay for the blunders and misspending of our city government.

·        Because for the most part, you and I are not politically connected.

·        Don’t we expect and elect our City Officials to watch out for the little guy – ALL OF THE TIME?

·        Don’t we expect and elect our City Officials to be fiscally responsible for our money – ALL OF THE TIME?

I am the type of person that does not dwell much in the past.  We must learn our lessons and not repeat our failures.  I am the type of leader that looks forward to the future - Deltona holds great promise and a future of prosperity for all who live in Deltona.  I represent a new generation of leadership for the City of Deltona and I will lead us to prosperity!
